The Aged & Disabled Persons Hostel and Welfare Association trades under the name: The Clem Jones Home, and is situated in Brisbane Street, Bulimba.
In accordance with its Articles of Association, the provision of care, particularly residential care, for the aged and disadvantaged, is the main purpose of the Association which is a registered charity operating on a not for profit basis.
The Brisbane Street site originally housed the workers for the Cairncross Drydock during the Second World War, and was subsequently used for low cost accommodation. The Association took over the site in 1980, and commenced a major capital works program to improve the level of accommodation for the residents. Various upgrades have occurred to keep pace with their changing needs and in accordance with the “ageing in place” principles of the Aged Care Act 1997.
The Home is controlled by a voluntary Board of Directors and managed by a multi-disciplinary Management Team. The staff of 120, provide 24 hour care and support services within a philosophy of care that focuses on supporting resident independence. The home is fully accredited under the Aged Care Act, 1997 as well as holding ISO 9001-2008 accreditation with the International Standards Organisation.
As a not for profit organisation the Home aims to deliver the highest quality care to the residents.
