It is the belief of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of The Clem Jones Home that all residents have the right to considerate and respectful care and within this context make the following statement of their Philosophy of Care.

  • The Clem Jones Home is a non-profit organisation that seeks to provide a high quality of care to members of the community.
  • The Clem Jones Home seeks to provide the highest possible standard of care demonstrating compassion, empathy, love, respect for human dignity, encouragement of independence and wisdom in all its interactions.

We recognise the importance and needs of each individual and to this end strive to meet that need whether it is physical, medical, social or spiritual.

  • We ensure the privacy, comfort and dignity of all our clients.
  • We respect the right of all our residents to maintain family and community relationships. Families are made to feel welcome and where possible, involved with planning for care, rehabilitation and re-socialisation programs of residents.
  • We respect the rights of the residents to conduct their affairs with integrity and honesty.
  • We respect the resident's right to be informed, whenever desired, of their current health status, medication, diagnosis, investigations and financial liability.
  • Residents have the right to refuse treatment to the extent permitted by law after being fully informed of health choices available.
  • Residents' communications and records pertaining to their care are treated as confidential.
  • We respect residents' and relatives' right of choice, when deemed practical, provided that the rights of others are not infringed upon.
  • We aim to achieve and maintain the highest standards of medical and nursing care possible within the context of our facility's capabilities.
  • We aim to provide as safe an environment as possible for the residents while still allowing residents their right to freedom of choice.
  • We will ensure that surroundings and living conditions are as pleasant and comfortable as possible providing a feeling of homeliness and security whilst encouraging maximum possible independence.
  • We will assist staff members to acquire increased skills by providing opportunities and encouragement to undertake further training.
